CITY OF BRIDES, 1995

Out of fascination for the complex music of Stravinsky's Les Noces, Parson set out to choreograph this work in order to know more about Stravinsky, and his unique mix of complex modernism and folk motifs. Months into the process she began work with composer Richard Einhorn to create a new piece of music, in equal parts indebted to Les Noces and grounded in Einhorn's own musical world. This piece, commissioned by The American Dance Festival in 1995, was performed ten years later at City Center's Fall for Dance with the original cast of five women.
