Created at the American Dance Festival in a commission that included a collaboration with composer Richard Einhorn, City of Brides is a dance piece danced by five women. It is inspired and drafted largely from a study of the rhythmic phrases of Stravinsky’s Les Noces. It was later performed in the first show at City Center’s Fall for Dance.

“There is nothing like seeing a good dance twice. Parson’s City of Brides looked like a million dollars… The five women are wonderful creatures. They look free for the first time in their lives… Parson and (composer) Richard Einhorn made an ideal collaboration in new dance… let’s have more of their work together.”
